Taveuni man charged with raping a 12-year-old boy Taveuni man charged with raping a 12-year-old boy A 48-year-old man of Taveuni who allegedly raped a 12-year-old boy last week, has been charged. The man has been charged with two counts of rape and the matter has been sent to the Savusavu Magistrates Court this afternoon due to the COVID restrictions in place. It is alleged the boy was returning from swimming when he was approached by the accused who then invited him to his home where the alleged incident occurred. 1 Dead, 3 injured over land dispute in Savannah Region

Graphic Online BY: Samuel Duodu 705 One person has been confirmed dead while three others are battling for their lives at various health facilities after they sustained injuries following disagreement over land between two communities. The communities are Losumpe and Kejase, near Mpaha and within the Debre Traditional Area in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region on Sunday morning, May 23. The deceased, identified by the police as Iddrisu Fuseini,48, is said to have sustained cuts on his chest while the three others, who  sustained multiple machete wounds on their bodies and are currently on admission, are, Ibrahim Yakubu, 37, Alhassan Abubakari, 42, and Abaka Alhassan,49.

Reforms at Minerals Commission: 21 Officers reassigned

As part of the shake-up, many officers have been transferred and reassigned across regional, district and satellite offices of the commission.  Some officers at the head office have also been transferred. A document originating from the Minerals Commission and available to the Daily Graphic showed that 21 officers at various ranks had been reassigned across the 16 regions and mining districts across the country. The officials affected by the transfers included regional officers in charge of mining duties, Administrative Officers, Deputy Chief Inspectors of Mine, Principal Inspectors of Mine, Assistant Managers, Principal Officers and Assistant Officers.
